Why you should watch "Hometown Cha Cha Cha"

Where do I even start?! This drama has given me a whole list of life lessons and a bunch of songs that I won't stop listening to anytime sooner. Tbh, I started this drama only because of the hype, wherever I go, be it Instagram or Twitter or even in the Google insights, I saw amazing things being told about this drama and that made me just go for it without putting it off for "later". I can't thank those unknown ig posts and tweets enough for making me find a gem. Okay so, let's get started.

#1 Chief Hong

One of the first things that attracted me the most was Chief Hong, I immediately fell for that man, how he was so friendly with everyone he met, how he asked them how they're doing and how he remembered the littlest of things of each and every person he was talking to, with a big big smile on his face, everything he did left me with awe. It was only after I was introduced to him, I was convinced to watch more, I was convinced that this drama is goanna be different, goanna be a feast and yes it was a feast. A character like Chief Hong was so new to me, someone who is always cheerful, playful, has his own views on life and isn't willing to change it for anyone, someone who doesn't boast about the things he has done in the past and just lives in the present, enjoying every moment to the fullest. But as the story unfolds, we get to see how hard things have been for him in his past, and for the first time the Chief Hong who always makes us laugh with his witty comments, makes us cry straight for hours. I was truly admired by him for making the people around him feel comfortable and happy while he himself was hurting inside, this is definitely not something any person can do. Okay, if I talk more, I might blurt out something I shouldn't.

This isn't my first drama of Kim Seon Ho, I have already seen his craft in "You drive me crazy" which is a mini-drama. I liked him even there but here I fell head over heals for him, we all know how beautiful of a person he is at heart but this character he played, he truly made us forget who KSH is and it rather felt like Chief Hong is playing Chief Hong, it was so natural. Okay so, while we are at it, let's hope that this man comes back even stronger!!

#2 Hye Jin

Hye Jin isn't someone whom you would start liking instantly, in fact she got on my nerves during the initial episodes but when I thought about it later I realised she is just a normal human being who sometimes says something she doesn't truly mean or acts all tough on the outside just to be left alone and that maybe if I were in her shoes, I would have done the same thing. But as time goes by, with every word she speaks, with every little thing she does, she makes sure to become someone we truly like and admire.

I have seen Shin Min Ah in "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho" and "Oh My Venus", but I have to say that her craft here, truly made me a fan, especially the scenes where she was emotional, the scenes where she was angry, the scenes where she was both emotional and angry, she delivered those scenes so beautifully that I cried automatically, whenever she cried. Seriously, I forgot the Shin Min Ah I had known earlier with time and now I think I only know and see Hye Jin ah.

#3 The Story and the Story telling

In the beginning, I wasn't that attracted by the story, it started off vaguely, just like any other romantic comedies. I think it was the end of the 2nd episode that caught my absolute attention and that made me think that this drama has more to offer and I'm underestimating it and yeah I was right about me thinking wrong. Every other character in the story, had a backstory which clarified the doubts that arise in our minds while watching them, I wondered how they would do justification to all the characters in the drama, given the fact that this drama had so so many characters but it seems that the writer understood the assignment, our views on a character after watching the initial episodes and our views on a character after watching the final episodes wouldn't just be the same, in fact every character is written so impeccably that there is no room for judging at all in the end.

Trust me, it is not one of those dramas where you can just skip some of the episodes and would still understand what is going on, here you'll have to watch every episode and particularly every scene to get the essence and to get the clear view of the events of past and the present, how they kept us guessing until the last few episodes to get answers to all the questions that we had been carrying all the way. And so, I frigging loved how the story was told, disclosing the key moments in the end, making us respect all of the characters that appear in the drama, especially Yeo Hwa Jeong, a character who gained my respect the most, you'll know it when you see it.

I especially liked how they connected the dots in the end and how they surprised us with, "Oh so this is how this happened" by making the leads meet in the past which they had no idea about. Okay is this a spoiler?! Oops, I did it again.

#4 Dialogues

Who says only the slice of life dramas with no love or much comedy can provide us with life lessons and make us wanna be a better person? Hometown Cha has done that part brilliantly well through their dialogues, some lines just stick to your mind and some you just don't wanna forget for life. it is indeed the dialogues that make the scene more strong and impactful and again, it seems that the writer understood the assignment. Most of the scenes in the drama are just pure reflections of life and so are the dialogues, real and impactful. How they showed the reality that how somethings might look small and not worth it to others, might actually be the biggest treasure to someone else and how some things may seem fair to someone while to someone else the same thing is unfair.

I truly have so many dialogues and lines that I like so much in the drama and this is my most favorite.

"Life may seem like a burden to you at times, but if you choose to be among others, someone will carry you on their back".

#5 Soundtrack

I wouldn't be lying if I say, "I loved every sound of this drama", be it the sound of the waves sweeping the shore, voice of Chief Hong, murmurs of Nam Sook, Yun Kyung's cusses and Oh Yoon's songs. But the first thing that caught me by surprise was the background score which I don't notice in most dramas I watch, but here I remember enjoying every sound that played in the background and later I heard, "La la la la la la… romantic sunday" I knew that this drama is goanna give me worthy osts which will stay with me forever and I didn't go wrong there. It definitely did.

The ost I liked the most was and is "Wish" by Choi Yu Ree, it's very rare that the very first line of the song makes you wanna hear more of it, it happened to me here, I ended up searching for it and listening it on loop for days, it is that good and Yu Ree's voice man, it is magical, this song is soothing, it makes you weep and can put you to sleep instanly, like a mother's lap.

Bottom-line

I truly understand if you're of the opinion that the dramas that get so much hype don't have anything special to offer because I have been there too and I agree, it has happened to me so many times but my opinion recently got modified, it is now, "not all" but most. Yeah guys it seems that sometimes the hype is worth it and definitely Hometown Chachacha falls in this category where all the hype is worth it. I also don't think it was not right of you to stop watching it after a few episodes are so, first we all have our own opinions and second, I personally believe that the first few episodes were not that impactful and special as the last few episodes, the latter had so many meaningful scenes where you get the answers for your questions, where you learn how important it is to have someone by your side and how hard life actually is, no matter who you are and no matter what you're doing. Okay, I think its better if I stop here to stop myself from blurting out something that can spoil your happy watching.

Guys, if you haven't started this drama yet, do make some time and watch it, thank me later. For those who stopped it midway, I hope you believe in my words and give it a second chance, I think it's worth it guys.

I'll be waiting to know your thoughts then, bye!
